Elementary School

Larry Stinson
Elementary School Principal

I am currently in my 3rd year as Elementary School Principal. The energy and spirit of the students and staff serves as a great encouragement as I consider the future of this great school. I anticipate each day with great hope as the Gospel message of Jesus Christ is readily available in each classroom. Our
teachers and staff are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to improve instruction while embedding the Word of God in each lesson. The overwhelming support from many of our parents has been gratifying and I approach each day with great expectancy. This year our ACES program has transitioned into an overview of Literacy and Mrs. Andrea Gioeli is challenging our gifted population with projects and curriculum expansion that are designed to enhance their horizons. The Spanish Immersion Program now includes grade 3. While grades KS and 1 are complete immersion models, our 2"' and 3'' graders are experiencing a 50/50 experience. This allows them to explore literacy in both English and Spanish. Our new staff this year includes Taylor Cronin--1" grade Spanish Immersion and Bree Horton--2"' grade Teaching Assistant. Our Student Center for Advancement continues to serve a segment of our population who have learning differences. Kimberly Williams shows extraordinary leadership in this area. Dr. Mildred Similton, our Administrator for Student Services, oversees our Guidance and Testing Programs and has successfully located valuable resources to enhance our teachers' professional development needs. Dr Quesinberry's vision has led to the opening of a Mallard Creek Classical Education facility. It is scheduled to open for grades TK-3'' grade in the fall of 2020 under the leadership of longtime HGCS teacher, Lori Cheuvront. Our elementary students were very active in our Feed the Need fundraiser and, as a result, the Dogwood Playground will receive a much needed renovation.

I continue to be humbled by the opportunity to serve at HGCS. The staff is incredibly dedicated and every aspect of their work is Christ centered. Please know that I am available and accessible for any of your needs. The crucial point of a vibrant and thriving organization is a direct line of communication as well as open and honest dialogue relative to any concerns or initiatives that are set forth for the elementary population. We are again positioned to do great things and I am grateful to be a part of such a progressive institution. My prayer is that each family will embrace the opportunities that are provided and work with us to make 2019-2020 the best school year ever. Thank you for being a part of the challenges that are set before us and may God receive the glory for all that is done in His name at HGCS.

In Christ alone,
