Middle School

Welcome to the Middle

Here at Hickory Grove, middle school curriculum is taught with a twofold purpose: Biblical worldview and academic preparedness. One of our main goals is to ensure we meet the aforementioned purposes while still allowing students to enjoy the true essence of being a middle school student.

To best serve our students, we have made fifth grade a transitional year to bridge the gap between elementary and middle -- giving students greater responsibility and challenging academic curriculum. Students have their own lockers, a limited class-change schedule, and opportunities to apply and evaluate their advanced thinking skills.

In 6th through 8th grades, students change classes over a six period day. Teachers approach classes knowing that middle school learners need instruction in note taking, organization, and building and honing critical thinking skills.

Besides the daily Biblical worldview filter in all classes, our middle school students attend a monthly chapel with high school students as we once again bridge that gap from elementary to middle to high school expectations and responsibilities.

In addition, our well-trained and Christ-centered middle school teachers make it a priority to disciple students by taking time to build relationships with them and to encourage them as they grow in their walk with Christ.

It is a privilege to serve alongside your family challenging your middle school student to do all for the glory of the Lord. Thank you for trusting us to partner with you during this phase of your child’s development. I look forward to us “meeting in the middle!”
