Mrs. Kim Staples serves as the Principal for fifth through eighth grade. She has thirty-one years of teaching experience, 16 years at Hickory Grove Christian School, and 15 years in the public school system both in North and South Carolina.
Kim Staples graduated from Lander College in 1988 with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She obtained a Master’s in Elementary Education from Lander University in 1991 and has earned 30 hours above her Master's in the area of Curriculum and Instruction.
While at HGCS, she has served in all three levels from 1st grade through the 10th grade. Mrs. Staples has served as a teacher mentor to many, sponsored Student Council and Chick-fil-a Leadership Academy, assisted in creating our Freshman Academy program, conducted numerous parent workshops, led discipleship groups for young ladies in high school, and served on our Prom Committee.
In 2013, Mrs. Staples worked as administrator of the Early Education Center at our Mallard Creek Campus and then later returned to Harris Campus in 2015 to serve as a language arts teacher in grades 7-10. Last spring Mrs. Staples worked to develop a preschool program at the Mallard Creek Campus that opened in the fall of 2019, while still teaching high school language arts.
She, along with her husband, Todd who is also a teacher at HGCS are faithful members of Hickory Grove Baptist Churchwhere Todd is currently a Sunday school teacher and a deacon. Todd and Kim have been married for 29 years. They have one son, Sam, who is a rising junior at Liberty University and is also a “lifer” graduate of Hickory Grove Christian School. They have and are currently serving as International Host Parents to Vera Liang, class of 2019 and rising senior, Hao Liang.
