Dr. Mildred Similton serves as the Administrator for Student Services.
In her role, she oversees schoolwide standardized assessment, the Student Center for Advancement, new student academic assessment and placement, guidance transitioning between school levels, and college guidance.
Dr. Similton graduated from Pfeiffer University in 1988 with a degree in Psychology and Theater. She received her MA from UNC-Charlotte in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and her Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in Human Resource Development/Community Psychology.
Dr. Similton previously served at Covenant Day School in Matthews, NC where she worked as a High School Guidance Counselor and AP Psychology teacher. Before working at Covenant Day School, Dr. Similton served in various roles at Central Academy at Lake Park. These included Assistant Head of School and Upper School principal. Currently, she serves as an adjunct professor for a prominent Christian university teaching graduate-level counseling courses.
She is the wife of Dale Similton and the mother of two boys who are both graduates of HGCS (Joseph, a current student at North Greenville University and Daniel who attends Anderson University).
