Academics

The results speak for themselves—our students consistently demonstrate that we are achieving our goals. At Hickory Grove Christian School, we provide every student with a rigorous education that not only prepares them for life but also immerses them in a gospel-centered environment throughout their time here. Students are encouraged to live out their faith through performance, competition, and the use of their unique gifts as a platform to share their faith with others.

Our school’s purpose is reflected in programs that prioritize spiritual growth for all students. Bible classes are mandatory at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and monthly chapels provide dedicated times for worship and biblical teaching. We also offer small-group discipleship opportunities that foster personal spiritual development, and students are encouraged to embrace a spirit of service through numerous opportunities to give back to their community.

"Hickory Grove Christian School seeks to honor the Lord by offering a well-rounded program that fulfills our spiritual mission without compromising academic excellence, a highly regarded athletic program, or the vibrant and thriving arts program showcased throughout our school."

In addition to spiritual growth, we fulfill our mission through strong academic programs. Initiatives like the Reader’s and Writer's Workshop and language immersion challenge and equip students. Honors courses begin in middle school (Math) and continue through high school, which also offers 17 Advanced Placement courses, including the distinguished AP Capstone Program.

We firmly believe that maintaining high expectations in spiritual development, academic excellence, and service to others equips our students to know Christ and make Him known. All stakeholders are committed to fostering these values to ensure our students are well prepared for the future.

The vision of Hickory Grove Christian School is "to know Christ and to make Him known through Christian education."

Hickory Grove Christian School filters all aspects of education through our vision. It starts with Biblical presuppositions of our faith, is driven by the fact that all truth is God's truth, aims students toward a Great Commission mindset as established in Matthew 28:18-20, and leads to a biblical wisdom that is consummated in the fear of the Lord.

This vision is brought to life daily by our dedicated staff, students, and parents, not only through classroom instruction but also through extracurricular activities and various supportive programs. Together, we work to ensure that Christ is at the center of everything we do.

Hickory Grove Christian School disciples students through a biblical worldview, forming them in academics, athletics, and arts to be committed to God, connected to the mission, and wise in Christ, that they may know Him and make Him known.
Our three Expected Student Outcomes describe the graduate this mission forms:

  • Committed to God: Devoted to the Lord with rightly ordered loves
  • Connected to the Mission: Joined to the body of Christ in shared mission
  • Wise in Christ: Discerning between the biblical wisdom of God and the wisdom of the world

Demonstrating our commitment to serving others, we have established both formal and informal partnerships, such as our work with the HGBC Food Pantry through aquaponics, and international outreach efforts in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, and Kenya. Additionally, we’ve built long-term relationships with students from countries like the Bahamas, Bosnia, China, Congo, El Salvador, Germany, Jamaica, South Africa, South Korea, and Vietnam.

At HGCS, we strive to live "on mission" by exalting Christ in everything we do—whether through Chapel services, daily classroom discussions, or rigorous Bible education. This missional approach, rooted in a Biblical worldview, sets us apart as an authentic, Gospel-centered institution.
