At Hickory Grove Christian, families are part of everything we do. There are many ways to connect with other parents, support our teachers and pray over our school.
Lions in Prayer
Parents gather once a month to pray for our students, staff and school. Whether you come every month or just once, you’re always welcome. Meetings are at 8:00 AM on the first Monday of the month.Hang Ten
Hang Ten is a movement that helps families, schools and churches raise children to use technology wisely. It offers ten shared technology practices that help families enjoy the good gifts technology provides while protecting children from its harms. It isn’t a set of rules. It’s a shared vision for families who don’t want to make these decisions alone.Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF)
PTF supports our teachers and builds community among families through events, appreciation efforts and fellowship throughout the year. Click here to learn more about PTF.Volunteer at School
Interested in volunteering in the classroom, the library or at school events? Current families can find our volunteer process at myHGCS. -
- Committed to God: Devoted to the Lord with rightly ordered loves. We want students who love God above every other affection and keep good things like grades, sports, friendships, and family in their proper place beneath Him.
- Connected to the Mission: oined to the body of Christ in shared mission. We want students who belong to more than a friend group. They are part of their home, their school, Hickory Grove Baptist Church, and the wider body of Christ, and they build others up through encouragement, hospitality, and service.
- Wise in Christ: Discerning between the biblical wisdom of God and the wisdom of the world. We want students who know what is true, choose virtue over vice, and steward their time and gifts under the lordship of Christ.

Beginning in TK, every elementary student takes a rotation of specials that build creativity, curiosity and character beyond the core subjects.
- Art: Students explore drawing, painting and hands-on projects while learning that creativity reflects the Creator.
- Music: Students sing, learn rhythm and the basics of music, and use their voices to worship. 4th and 5th graders can join our elementary choir, one of the largest groups of young singers on our campus.
- Library: Weekly library time builds a love of reading. Students check out books, hear stories read aloud and learn how to find and choose good books.
- Physical Education: PE builds coordination, teamwork and good sportsmanship, teaching students to care for the bodies God has given them.
- Computer Science Lab: Students build digital skills, from keyboarding to early coding and problem-solving, while learning to use technology wisely.
- Kingdom Builders (4th-5th grade): is a special this year, designed to help fourth and fifth graders grow in how they relate to and care for one another. As students strengthen these relational skills, they become powerful witnesses to God's love and active builders of His kingdom on Earth. Students receive Biblically based lessons about things like communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and sportsmanship, then get to practice applying it through hands-on activities, building projects, and team challenges. No matter the game or activity, our debrief always includes an application question, prompting students to consider, How can I apply this new skill to my life as a 4th/5th grader? Our school’s Social Emotional Learning curriculum, Friendzy, is integrated throughout this special and helps give students strategies for coping with big emotions, communicating during a disagreement, and other important skills. In this class we like to have fun, we never shy away from a challenge, and we seek to become more like Jesus in all that we say and do.

We believe a strong partnership between home and school helps every child thrive. Here’s how we stay connected.
For current families
- ParentSquare is our main communication tool. Teachers use it for classroom updates, reminders and newsletters. The school uses it for announcements, event information and urgent alerts. You’ll get messages by app, email or text, whichever you choose.
- FACTS is where you’ll find grades, report cards and your student’s official records.
- myHGCS is our password-protected parent page. It has forms, the lunch menu, the dress code and other important documents.
