Welcome to the Middle!

A smiling woman in a blue dress poses outdoors with a softly blurred background of trees.

Dear HGCS Families,

Welcome! It is my joy to serve as your principal. Whether your family is new to our school or you've been with us for years, I'm glad you're here.
Our vision guides everything we do: to know Christ and to make Him known through Christian education. As Matthew 6:33 says, we seek first the kingdom of God — and all else follows from that.  Every subject is taught through a biblical worldview, every student is known as an individual made in God's image, and every decision is weighed against an eternal perspective.   It also means I see you, our families, as partners in your child's education and discipleship.

What You Can Expect

  • Every subject taught through a biblical worldview — from math to literature to science.
  • A true partnership between home, church, and school, because you are your child's primary disciplers.
  • An eternal perspective, because our greatest goal is that students come to know and follow Jesus Christ.
  • Academic excellence, with instruction that meets each child's unique learning needs.
  • Whole-child care, honoring every student as created in God's image.
  • Character rooted in Christ, where integrity and leadership matter, but a life committed to Jesus matters most.

My Commitment to You
My heart for your children goes beyond academics. I want each student to leave Middle School not only prepared for what's next in life, but growing in their walk with Jesus Christ. I want them to know they are loved, valued, and seen — by their teachers, by this school, and above all, by their Savior.  I will work to build a school culture where faith is the foundation, teachers are equipped to disciple as well as teach, and every child is known and valued. Thank you for entrusting your student to us. I am honored to carry forward the mission of HGCS alongside you.

In Christ,
Mrs. Amy Weddine

More Information

  • At Hickory Grove Christian School, our middle school is committed to keeping God at the center of every school day. Each morning, teachers lead a devotion time. One Thursday a month, students gather in the sanctuary for Chapel, where our pastors teach through this year’s “Here I Stand” theme while students engage with Chapel notetaking sheets. On the first Thursday of each month, Grove Groups bring boys and girls together by grade level to learn from the lives of martyrs, missionaries, and mentors, then break into small discipleship groups to talk through what they’ve heard. Alongside these spiritual rhythms, quarterly Wellness events like our Fall Social, Christmas Event, and 3x3 Basketball give students time to build friendships and community as one Hickory Grove family.

  • Every middle school student takes five core classes: Bible, English, Math, Science, and History. Course descriptions are organized by grade level and subject.

  • At Hickory Grove Christian School, our Middle School Enrichment Program is designed to help students discover new interests, develop practical skills, and grow in ways that support our Expected Student Outcomes of being Committed, Connected, and Wise. These courses provide opportunities for students to explore areas beyond the core curriculum while encouraging creativity, leadership, service, collaboration, and problem-solving.

  • FACTS is our student information system, where families can view grades, attendance, and account information. Canvas is our learning management system. Teachers use it to share and organize class content, and students turn in work online for grading. Parents can follow along by setting up a Canvas Parent Observer account. ParentSquare is how we send school announcements, calendar updates, and messages from teachers and administrators.
